What is Counselling?

Counselling is practiced by qualified counsellors, they help clients facilitate change by offering core conditions, these are empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. Counsellors are trained so that they can help you make sense of your life experiences in a safe environment at your own pace.

What is CBT

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is a talking therapy that helps you make sense of your negative thinking . Negative thinking can affect our behaviour and emotional wellbeing. CBT starts with a formulation this explores the clients background (significant events), then the client will carry out different worksheets to enable them to challenge their negative thoughts (experiments). The client will look at triggers and strategies that can help minimise their difficulties. The last part of CBT is were the client build on their own tool kit (strategies) that they can use throughout their life.

Solution focussed Therapy

Solution-focused brief therapy is a practical, goal-driven approach that encourages clear, concise communication, realistic goal-setting and support. It empowers the client, as it believes that every child, young person or adult who comes to therapy has some knowledge of what would improve their difficulties.

What is EFT

Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT (often known as Tapping) Psychological acupressure", the technique works by releasing blockages within the energy system (Meridian System) By using EFT this helps to unblock  the meridian system and minimise the effects of negative feelings and experiences. A qualified practitioner would help you to think of a set up statement that will  be used, a reminder phrase will be discussed and this will be used whilst tapping.
